Features: This series of books is compiled in line with the spirit of quality education for primary and secondary school students as instructed by the Ministry of Education of China, based on the new teaching and textbooks. The Full-Time Compulsory Education "Chinese Curriculum Standards" for Grades 5 and 6 include the following requirements for students' reading abilities:
1. Read texts correctly, fluently, and with emotion in Mandarin.
2. Read silently at a certain speed, with general reading materials not less than 300 words per minute.
3. Use a dictionary to read and understand the appropriate meanings of words in a linguistic context, distinguishing their emotional connotations.
4. Infer the meaning of words and sentences in the text by connecting the context and personal experiences, and appreciate their expressive effects.
5. In reading, grasp the logical sequence of the text, the author's emotions, and the basic methods of expression. In communication and discussion, dare to express personal opinions and make independent judgments.
6. Read expository texts and identify key points, understanding the basic methods of explanation.
7. Read narrative works and summarize the main events, briefly describing memorable scenes, characters, and details, as well as expressing personal likes, dislikes, admiration, aspirations, and empathy. Read poems to grasp the general meaning, imagine the scenarios described, and feel the poet's emotions, being inspired and motivated by outstanding works to pursue beautiful ideals.
8. Learn to skim to broaden knowledge and gather information as needed.
9. In understanding texts, recognize the different uses of commas, periods, semicolons, and colons.
10. Recite excellent poems and articles, appreciating the content and emotions of the works through their tones, rhythms, and other elements. Memorize 60 outstanding poems and passages.
11. Utilize libraries, the internet, and other information channels to try exploratory reading. Expand reading horizons, with a total of no less than 1 million words of extracurricular reading.
This series emphasizes the understanding and mastery of basic concepts and principles; focuses on training in basic knowledge and skills, closely addressing key and difficult points, comprehensively applying foundational knowledge, and nurturing students' analytical and thinking abilities to comprehensively improve their reading skills.
