Features: This book is a newly compiled planning teaching material for higher vocational education in electronic information, primarily introducing the classic part of automatic control theory and several common automatic control systems. The content includes the basic principles and concepts of automatic control systems, common mathematical models, performance analysis methods and compensation methods, thyristor and PWM DC speed control systems, tension control systems, position servo systems, and process control systems. The book emphasizes practical applications while downplaying theoretical aspects, focusing on the explanation of fundamental concepts and principles. It organically integrates time-domain analysis methods and frequency response methods, broadens the discussion scope of control systems, and introduces the application methods of MATLAB engineering calculation software in control theory and control systems. This book can be used as a teaching material for higher vocational and technical colleges in electrical engineering, or as a reference for relevant engineering technicians. Based on the second edition of the higher vocational planning teaching material "Automatic Control Theory and Systems" published in 1996, this book has been updated and revised according to the development of new technologies and the greater emphasis on on-site application technology in higher vocational and technical education. The book is divided into two parts. The first part is "Automatic Control Theory," which includes the establishment of system mathematical models, common methods for analyzing system performance, performance analysis of systems, and exploring ways to improve system performance, including time-domain analysis, frequency response methods, and the application of MATLAB software. The second part is "Automatic Control Systems," which includes DC speed control systems, AC speed control systems, position servo systems, and the analysis and debugging of practical systems. New additions include BJT-PWM controlled IGBT-SPWM-VVVF AC frequency conversion speed control systems and microcomputer-controlled position servo systems using dedicated integrated circuits. When revising the third edition of this book, it will still maintain the original book's well-received features: using automatic control theory as the analytical tool and automatic control systems as the analytical object. Centered around the analysis and improvement of system performance, with methodology as the main thread, the book emphasizes the physical meaning and physical processes through application examples, striving to achieve a connection between theory and practice, detailed analysis, clarity, and practicality. Each chapter includes summaries, review questions, and exercises, most of which are problems from actual production. The book also includes numerous reading materials, case analyses, and diagram-reading exercises to enhance students' self-learning, analytical, and practical abilities. This book can be used by higher vocational and technical colleges, applied undergraduate programs, workers' universities, and their automation, electrical, mechatronics, and applied electronics majors. It can also serve as a self-study examination teaching material and a reference for engineering technicians.
