Features: This textbook is designed for undergraduate students of electronic engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China, studying the course "Microcomputer Principles and Systems." It was meticulously compiled by the authors after reviewing extensive domestic and international literature, incorporating the strengths of various sources, and combining their years of experience in computer teaching and application. The book is rich in content, illustrated with diagrams, and presents material in an accessible and easy-to-understand manner, supplemented by numerous examples and exercises. It can serve as both a teaching textbook and a self-study guide. The book is divided into 13 chapters, with content organized to emphasize systematicity, modernity, and practicality.
The first four chapters introduce the composition principles, architecture, instruction set, and assembly language programming methods of the 8086/8088 microcomputer system. Chapter 5 discusses the principles and design methods of memory. Chapter 6 covers I/O interfaces and system buses. Starting from Chapter 7, the book explores interrupt systems and interface technologies, with a focus on analyzing the interrupt controller 8259A, the counter/timer 8253 and 8254, the universal parallel interface 8255A, the universal serial interface 8251A, the digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters, and the DMA controller 8237A. It also provides an overview of the working principles of the IBM PC/XT system board.
Chapter 13 briefly introduces the basic working principles of 32-bit microcomputers, including the structure and working modes of 32-bit microprocessors, the composition of registers, memory management in protected mode, new instructions added to 32-bit machines, programming examples, and interface technologies. This book can serve as a textbook for undergraduate students of electronic engineering and related disciplines in colleges and universities, as well as a reference for science and technology professionals engaged in microcomputer system design and application.
