Features: Paradise Lost is one of the three major late works of the 17th-century British poet Milton. The content narrates how the devil Satan launches a rebellion in heaven and is defeated by Christ, sent to hell. Driven by his desire for revenge, he fearlessly undertakes a long journey to the new world created by God and infiltrates Eden, tempting the first humans, Adam and Eve, to commit the sin of eating the forbidden fruit. Afterward, humans are banished from Eden, forced to fend for themselves and seek redemption through death and steadfast faith. Meanwhile, Satan and his followers not only fail to achieve their revenge but also sink into an even darker abyss. The original book is a long narrative poem in twelve cantos, with over 10,000 lines. However, to pique readers' interest, this edition is presented in the form of a novel, omitting some of the original poem's ornate language, praises, and metaphors to enhance the story's tension and compactness. For easier reading, many references from Greek and Roman Mythology and the Bible are directly integrated into the story, reducing the use of footnotes. Of course, if you still feel unsatisfied after reading this book, we recommend continuing with the original poem or its Chinese translation.
A thrilling story from the Bible narrates the rebellion of Satan in heaven, his struggle against God, leading angels into exile and descending into hell, and the tragic epic of the first humans, Adam and Eve, being banished from the paradise of Eden. Milton's masterpiece, Paradise Lost, paired with the works of the modern talented illustrator Dru, is retold in a fresh narrative style, allowing the world to rediscover the wisdom of this classic.
