The book still adopts the traditional English grammar system, with a total of 29 chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the basic concepts of grammar, with most of the terminology commonly used in English grammar teaching in China, but we have also incorporated some modern grammar concepts, such as the proposal of function words and meaning words. Chapters 2-19 cover morphology, discussing ten parts of speech, with detailed explanations of the key parts of speech. Chapter 19 focuses on word formation, explaining the methods of word formation to give readers a clearer understanding of the structure of English words. Chapters 20-28 cover syntax, discussing the types and categories of sentences, with special introductions to phrases and clauses, the basic components that make up sentences. Chapter 29 explains commonly used punctuation marks.
