Features: I deliberately created characters who are imperfect and have a fundamental flaw. At that time, one-armed swordsman and one-legged travelers were all the rage, but I thought these weren't very healthy. Meanwhile, the blind [one-eyed] was a hero—such as Dayan (former Defense Minister of Israel). So I created an antagonist in my works—Duke Bandit One-Eye. It is also one of my representative four-panel comic works. When drawing Duke Bandit One-Eye, it was the peak of my enthusiasm for four-panel comics. Most of the protagonists in previous comics were heroes, so when I started this new column, I considered using an anti-hero as the main character, like having Sherlock Holmes and then introducing a new Arsène Lupin. Of course, the design of this anti-hero had to be special. Positive characters are mostly perfect, but the characters I create are deliberately imperfect and have a fundamental flaw.
