This book is based on the lecture notes used by the author from 1999 to 2001 while teaching Chinese-to-English translation at the Advanced Translation College of Beijing Foreign Studies University. The college has always aimed to cultivate practical translation talents, so teaching places great emphasis on developing students' practical skills. This book also focuses on exploring solutions to various translation problems.
The book has the following features:
· Special focus on non-literary translation. General translation theory does not distinguish between literary and non-literary translation.
