Features: Lao She was a self-conscious artist who always experimented with new writing styles with great enthusiasm. His dramatic works alone covered a wide range of themes and genres, and the quantity was astonishing. In addition to the plays mentioned above, he wrote many Peking operas before liberation, such as New Pricking Tiger, Loyalty and Magnanimity, Xue Erniang, and Wang Jiaping. After liberation, he also composed Peking operas like The Fifteen Pieces, The Frog Rider, Second Youth, Second Youth, and La Lang Pai. His plays were even more numerous, including works like Fang Zhenzhu and Female Salesperson, and this doesn’t even include his collaborations with Zhao Qingge, such as King Tiger, Plums and Spring Breeze, Dragon’s Beard Canal, and Teahouse.
