Features: Literature resource construction has been an important topic of theoretical research and practice in the field of library and information science over the past decade. This is reflected not only in the publication of numerous academically valuable papers and books but also in the continuous expansion of practical activities. However, a review of the theoretical research process on literature resource construction in China reveals a lack of systematic studies on the theoretical framework of literature resource construction. This cannot fully meet the needs of theoretical research and practice in literature resource construction, especially the needs of macro-level literature resource construction theory and practice. Therefore, establishing a new theoretical framework for literature resource construction has become a significant task for theoretical research in the library and information science community. This book aims to establish a new theoretical framework for literature resource construction as its foundation, striving to reflect the holistic and practical characteristics of literature resource construction theory. The holistic characteristic is primarily demonstrated by the new theoretical framework for literature resource construction differing from the traditional theoretical system of collection development, treating literature resource construction as a whole for study. Within this framework, it includes not only general theories of literature resource construction but also reveals the interdependence between macro-level and micro-level literature resource construction. The micro-level construction relies on the planning and guidance of the macro-level, and both ultimately aim to meet society's demand for literature resources. The interdependence of these relationships and the unity of their goals determine that micro-level and macro-level literature resource construction form an organic whole. Additionally, the holistic characteristic of this book is also reflected in the organic connections between its chapters. The contemporary characteristic is primarily demonstrated by the book's efforts to incorporate the latest achievements in theoretical research and practice on literature resource construction, reflecting the era's features of literature resource construction and adapting to the needs of theoretical research and practice. The above intentions may be good, but due to insufficient depth in the author's research and limited scope, imperfections in the book are inevitable. Moreover, once a new theoretical framework is established, it requires a process of repeated research and practice to become more refined.
