The holistic design language discussed in this book primarily targets formal language communication activities. However, it is neither a process nor an activity but rather a linguistic term. Holistic design language is the name we give to a category of words, phrases, and short sentences that play a special role in communication, corresponding to a specific linguistic existence. It not only highlights the regulatory control of expression tone, style, and other aspects in formal language communication but also plays a prominent role in literary creation. Fields such as language teaching and writing studies have all emphasized the need for a holistic design before speaking or writing. Zhang Shukang said, "The language of modern works is either solemn or playful; concise or elaborate; calm or passionate; sketch-like or detailed; some are lyrical, while others are philosophical. A serious novelist must carefully choose the tone of the descriptive language before putting pen to paper. Once the tone is set, they can proceed."
