With a large number of entries and abundant information, it covers all five calligraphic styles— Seal, Clerical, Regular, Running, and Cursive— listing multiple variations for each character. High-frequency characters are particularly well-represented with diverse forms, making it the most comprehensive calligraphy dictionary to date, containing over 150,000 characters.
This is the first monumental dictionary to comprehensively integrate the five calligraphic styles—Seal, Clerical, Regular, Running, and Cursive. It widely collects a vast number of character examples from ancient scripts like oracle bone and bronze inscriptions to stone tablets, legal documents, and ink rubbings from various dynasties, all edited based on photographs. To expand the collection and facilitate retrieval, many examples have been abbreviated. The scope of this dictionary includes all 9,350+ characters and variant characters recorded in Shuowen Jiezi, as well as all characters found in stone inscriptions and ink rubbings, with rare exceptions. As a result, high-frequency characters are extensively represented with a variety of calligraphic styles in this book.
