Features: Xunzi, also known as Xun Qing or Sun Qing (the characters Xun and Sun were similar in ancient pronunciation, with Qing being a respectful title), was a native of Zhao during the late Warring States period. He was primarily active between the 17th year of King Xian of Zhou (298 BC) and the 9th year of King Zheng of Qin (238 BC). He was the last great master of the Confucian school during the pre-Qin period, and Sima Qian once compared him to Mencius in the Records of the Grand Historian.
