Features: Since its publication in 1992, the "Great Dictionary of Chinese Medicinal Diet" (Zhongguo Yaofan Daidian), a major medicinal diet reference book in China's capital, has attracted the attention of experts and scholars both domestically and internationally, as well as the enthusiasm of numerous readers. It boasts nearly 10,000 medicinal diet recipes, extensive documentation, biographical entries, and terminological content, demonstrating its authority in summarizing traditional and contemporary medicinal diet practices. In 1993, the book was awarded the Second Prize for Outstanding Books by the Liaoning Provincial Press and Publication Administration and the First Prize for Outstanding Books by the National Urban Press Outstanding Books Evaluation Committee. In 1997, a Japanese translation was published by M?E?K Co., Ltd. While receiving high praise, some colleagues and readers also provided valuable suggestions and feedback on the book's content and editing, helping us identify areas for further improvement. Therefore, on the 10th anniversary of the book's first publication, the authors successfully completed the revision of this dictionary.
This dictionary is a comprehensive reference work that explains various terms within the field of Chinese medicinal diet. It contains 9,110 entries, including 168 on literature, 71 on individuals, 273 on terminology, 1,230 on medicinal diet ingredients, and 7,368 on medicinal diet recipes. The text spans approximately 2 million words. The principles for selecting entries include a focus on terms related to Chinese medicinal diet from the pre-Qin period to the present day. The dictionary primarily collects vocabulary from ancient classics while also extensively incorporating terms from modern and contemporary literature. For the section on medicinal diet recipes, entries are primarily derived from various sources, with some folk remedies included as appropriate.
