Contemporary Academic Overview. Volume on Humanities: Major Trends in Social Science and Humanities Research (Three Volumes in Total)

Author: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2004-04-01
Features:
1. This book is authorized for publication by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The Social Sciences volume is translated from the French edition, while the Humanities volume is translated from the English edition. Therefore, the page numbers (i.e., the marginal page numbers in the book) differ between the two volumes. For example, when the Humanities volume refers to see page XX of the Social Sciences volume, it refers to the page number in the English edition, not the French edition.
2. Since there are over twenty authors of this book, the subheadings and formatting of each chapter vary, and the notes also include chapter-end notes, section-end notes, etc. During the editing process, the formatting was standardized to chapters, sections, and subheadings; notes were uniformly formatted as section-end notes or added after subheadings written by a single author, with note numbers starting from [1].
3. Some chapters originally included bibliographies of four to fifty pages. Due to space limitations and the fact that many of these references were already mentioned in the text notes, they were omitted. Additionally, some chapters contained lengthy acknowledgments by the authors, which were also omitted as they held little significance for readers.
4. Since the book was written before the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the political upheaval in Eastern Europe, the research status of these countries and regions remains as it was at that time. No changes were made to preserve historical accuracy and fidelity to the original text.
