Introduction by Father Mo: Father Mo's name is Mo Tianci, born in Hong Kong in 1938. His father was the late pre-war celebrity Mo Lisi, and his mother was Luo Huidede, originally from Xinhui, Guangdong. The Luo family is a renowned scholarly lineage, with generations of scholars. Mo Tianci's wife, Ho Minyi, is a prominent television figure in Hong Kong and currently serves as the Vice President of the Hong Kong Childhood Cancer Foundation. They have one son and one daughter. Their son, Mo Lisi, is a law doctor from the University of Cambridge; their daughter, Mo Wing, is a famous singer and actress, often hailed as one of the "Four Wonders of the Family."
Statement by Father Mo: Since childhood, I have been fond of the I Ching and have studied Taoist practices, including medicine, divination, astrology, and other esoteric arts. Among the family's heirloom books, in addition to predictive texts, there are numerous health and wellness soup and dietary recipes. Long before Mo Wing gained fame, many relatives and friends sought out our family's soup recipes. Today, with her reputation in the entertainment industry and her healthy and beautiful physique, she is the dream of countless women. Due to the overwhelming number of requests for our expertise, my wife and I, after careful consideration, have decided to share our family's soup recipes. This way, we can benefit others and contribute to charity—what a wonderful idea?
Although our daughter, Mo Wing, works tirelessly every day, she has always maintained a radiant appearance and strong health, and the credit for this goes largely to our family's traditional soups. Soup, in essence, is the source of health in the Mo family. "Winter Worm Summer Grass Soup for nourishment, Tribulus Terrestris Chicken Soup for growth, and Dendrobium for lung health." From the various insights into health and wellness that Father Mo shares, it is clear that he has extensive knowledge of soups and loves to cook them for his family. No wonder our daughter, Mo Wing, is the most loyal consumer—whether it's a quick or slow-cooked soup, as long as it's made by her father, she drinks it all down.
Though just a simple home-cooked soup, it has become a way for the two generations of the Mo family to bond. The care and trust between them are like a slow-cooked soup, simmered to perfection, with a thousand flavors in the heart.
This book collects nearly 50 traditional Chinese soups meticulously prepared by Father Mo for his beloved daughter, Mo Wing, and the entire family. The recipes are organized in chronological order under themes such as "Childhood Flavors," "Growing Up Fast," "Behind the Success," and "Ageless Vitality," detailing the precise methods of making each soup. It also includes a never-before-seen private photo album of the Mo family. These soups are not only delicious but also believed to heal ailments and promote longevity. Unlike typical cookbooks, this one is imbued with the warm emotions of a father's concern for his children's growth and family harmony. The heartwarming "soup stories" sprinkled throughout make each recipe even more touching and trustworthy.
