Features: When a nation embarks on the construction of a new civilization, it cannot do without spiritual resources to rely on. For people today, Lu Xun – his works and intellectual legacy – need not be elevated to a "frightening height," yet, viewing them as an important spiritual resource is certainly not an overstatement. A Western statesman once said that a nation reveals itself not only through the people it has created but also through those it honors and remembers. The Chinese people will not abandon Lu Xun. The history of the Chinese nation has forged him as one of the giants in the history of Chinese culture. The history he reflects does not end with his death. When we read his writings, we are often amazed at the accuracy of his foresight, astonished at the repetition of history, or indignant at the persistence of deep-seated problems, as if they were written just for today. More importantly, people still see, in the twists and turns, an unwavering spirit of questioning and seeking, resistance and progress. They see the undying light of ideals shining before the Chinese people, and the relentless footsteps and beating hearts of countless righteous and dedicated individuals. In the sense of our nation "showing itself to the world," Lu Xun is also irreplaceable.
