Features: Public policy is an evolving discipline, and its detailed subject content has yet to be clearly defined. This is also the primary reason why this book is titled "Introduction." Fundamentally, the developmental nature of public policy research stems from the continuous updates of government public policies, which in turn arise from the development and progress of contemporary society. However, this does not hinder us from discussing the main theories and methods of public policy. This book has three considerations in terms of its framework and content:
First, this book attempts to describe the basic subject content of "public policy" as a discipline. This section aims to provide students with a systematic theoretical foundation in public policy. To this end, the book discusses the basic categories of public policy and their associated major practical issues (overview), the formulation and implementation process of public policy (formulating and implementing public policy), the main analytical methods of public policy, and the macro-theoretical and practical issues faced by public policy as a discipline (methodology). In the third section, given that public policy as a methodology encompasses a rich variety of quantitative analytical methods, the book introduces some of them appropriately.
Second, this book attempts to discuss the main academic debates and certain perplexing points in the development of public policy, citing relevant materials as comprehensively as possible while also presenting its own perspectives. The book aims to provide students with a systematic theoretical foundation in public policy while also serving as a "platform" for professional research. It hopes to offer domestic researchers a quick way to understand the main issues studied by public policy as a discipline in the past, as well as the challenges it currently faces and its future tasks.
Third, this book attempts to combine certain phenomena in the formulation and implementation of public policy in China to explain some principles, principles, and methods of public policy.
