Features: How the annual college entrance examination (Gaokao) is structured and conducted has always been a topic of widespread concern among students, parents, and teachers. In recent years, with the continuous updating of educational theories, Gaokao question-setting has been innovating while maintaining fundamental stability. To select new talent with both innovative thinking and practical abilities, the questions have evolved with new variations each year, building upon traditional successful experiences. The focus has shifted from "knowledge-based" to "ability-based" question-setting, emphasizing the application of thinking methods, the development of rational thinking, the ability to analyze real-world scenarios and flexibly apply knowledge, and the in-depth assessment of students' learning potential and their independent reading, understanding, and application of new information.
Questions from previous Gaokao sessions have been meticulously designed by the National Education Examination Center, involving professors from renowned universities, textbook editors, experienced education researchers, and outstanding high school teachers. These questions are profound in their intent, clear in their objectives, novel in their contexts, and flexible in their solutions. From the mid-1990s, when China released one annual set of questions, to 2004, when over a dozen different types of questions were released nationwide, the content of Gaokao questions has become richer, and the question types more innovative. This collection includes a large number of high-quality, targeted, and practical candidate examples and practice questions that reflect the requirements of the Gaokao and are suitable for real-world application.
To provide students and teachers preparing for the Gaokao with a convenient and comprehensive "treasure trove" of questions, this series compiles Gaokao questions from the past five years across five subjects: Chinese, English, Mathematics, Liberal Arts Comprehensive (including Politics, History, and Geography), and Science Comprehensive (including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). The questions are categorized by knowledge points or ability requirements, allowing readers to clearly understand the "trajectory" of question-setting for key points in the Gaokao, as well as the standards, approaches, and methods of assessment. To give readers a sense of the historical evolution of questions, the series selects annually meaningful questions from previous years and provides solutions at the end of the book.
