Features: The "Series of Enlarged Ancient Stele and Calligraphy Manuscripts" takes commonly used calligraphy steles as the basis for learning, selecting typical character examples and categorizing them by stroke, radical, structure, or variant forms of the same character. It also employs technical means such as character enlargement and stele flipping to make it a preferred learning manual or teaching reference for calligraphy learners and teachers. This volume is compiled based on the "Yanta Shengjiao Xu" (Holy Teaching Order on the Yanta Stele) written by Chu Suiliang of the Tang Dynasty. When practicing this stele, pay attention to the following points:
1. When writing strokes, observe the rich variations in stroke forms and the subtle transitions at the starting and ending points, focusing on the interweaving and connections of strokes in running script to ensure continuity with the brush;
2. When writing radicals, analyze the overlapping and avoiding relationships between different radicals, and get accustomed to the changes in stroke order and local simplifications in running script;
3. Pay attention to the characteristics of stroke substitution in running script, such as using dots to replace horizontal, vertical, or oblique strokes;
4. When writing structures, combine square and round forms to create a balance between sharp and sturdy lines and soft, rounded curves;
5. Note the multiple forms of the same character and appreciate the masterful craftsmanship of Wang Xizhi's calligraphy, which is both rich, lively, and impeccably standardized.
