Features: Laparoscopic surgery has evolved rapidly in a relatively short period, with numerous related books published, such as those on laparoscopic techniques, equipment, surgical indications and strategies, and laparoscopic surgical procedures. However, there is still a lack of an anatomical book that meets the requirements of laparoscopic surgery and is specifically tailored for laparoscopic surgeons. This book consistently introduces anatomical relationships from the perspective of laparoscopy and three-dimensional space, breaking through traditional anatomical thinking. It focuses on modern laparoscopic surgery, elaborating on the local anatomical features of surrounding organs. The upper right quadrant of the abdomen is primarily dedicated to the biliary system, the upper left quadrant centers on the spleen, the upper middle abdomen discusses the stomach, the lower middle abdomen emphasizes the colon, and the pelvic region focuses on gynecological organs. The retroperitoneum and inguinal region are separately devoted to the urinary system and hernia pathology. Considering the repetition of content across different chapters, the same anatomical relationships are explained from various perspectives to ensure coordination and coherence as a whole. After introducing embryology, anatomy, and variations in each chapter, one or more surgical cases are selected to illustrate the anatomical relationships, with a particular emphasis on widely performed procedures such as biliary, inguinal, and gastric surgeries (laparoscopic surgeries for the spleen, colon, uterus, and urinary system are less commonly accepted). By familiarizing themselves with normal anatomy and its variations, surgeons can ensure safe and effective operations. Throughout the entire surgical process—from trocar insertion to removal from the abdominal cavity—the variations and complexities of anatomy are emphasized. Open surgical views are limited and constrained by instruments such as hands and retractors, whereas laparoscopic surgery offers a broader range of manipulation with a clear, magnified field of view, making its advantages more pronounced. This book introduces the special requirements of laparoscopic surgery and emphasizes the principles of laparoscopic operation, clarifying issues such as trocar placement, the positions of the surgical team, patient positioning, and camera orientation. The safe use and coordinated coordination of laparoscopic instruments play a crucial role in the successful completion of every surgical case. Laparoscopic instruments and equipment are continuously evolving, and while technological advancements in visual devices, insufflation, electrocoagulation devices, and specialized surgical instruments are not the main focus of this book, the names of instruments are avoided to avoid overly technical terminology. To align with the key content, the book primarily describes traditional resection methods and does not involve complex or potentially hazardous laser techniques. Although new devices and technologies, such as ultrasonic knives and 3D television, have improved surgical efficiency, the demand for anatomical knowledge remains unchanged. Given the abundance of anatomical reference books and surgical case reports, it is difficult to list the specific sources of every cited article in each chapter. Only when the proportion of references is high or a particular article is the sole report of a specific case is its source listed. At the end of the book, the main anatomical references consulted are listed, with specific anatomical references for each chapter. Based on currently recognized surgical principles and proven surgical methods, this book establishes the approach to laparoscopic surgery, avoiding approaches adopted based on personal preferences. References for surgical approaches are listed at the end of each chapter.
