Features: This study begins by comparing the CP indicator structures of English and Chinese, employing the theoretical framework of generative grammar. It reveals that any NP located outside the IP implicitly maintains its case. Due to the subconscious presence of case, spontaneous restructuring from a first-language (L1) allowable CP to a second-language (L2) permissible IP commonly occurs in the initial stage of second language acquisition.
