Features: In this mysterious world, no matter how much anything troubles people, love remains beautiful. He developed classic Russian prose with his exceptional writing skills and, in his creations, reshaped the typical Russian character through his great artistic talent. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Russia also had another outstanding realist writer whose brilliant name was Ivan Alekseyevich Bunin. Although his comprehensive literary achievements were honored with the Nobel Prize in Literature on December 9, 1993 (making him the first Russian to receive this distinction), due to political reasons—because of his limited understanding of the October Revolution, the authorities at the time would not promote him much, and thus Chinese readers naturally knew little about him. This book selects and translates thirty short stories and novellas. For today's young readers, these may seem like distant stories. However, all good literary works can deeply explore life from the perspectives of human nature and emotions, transcending the limitations of time, geography, and nationality to be understood and appreciated by humanity, possessing enduring artistic charm. For example, in The Law of Love, it depicts a small landowner, Khvoshchikov, deeply in love with a housemaid named Luchka. After Luchka suddenly dies, he is devastated and retreats to the room she once lived in, living there in seclusion for over twenty years. The author is deeply skilled in the art of short story writing. Instead of directly describing the protagonist's long period of seclusion, he cuts through the cross-section of life, using Evilev, who once had feelings for Luchka, to visit Luchka's former home and buy the book The Law of Love at a high price, revealing profound themes. The other works in this collection each have their own unique features and are all worth reading, but they will not be mentioned one by one here.
