Compared to previous editions, this textbook features the following:
1. Up-to-date Content: The general section on bacteriology now includes chapters on bacterial drug resistance, its formation mechanisms, prevention and control strategies, and hospital-acquired infections. The virology section has been expanded to include chapters on coronaviruses. Since the biological status of "prions" is yet to be fully determined, they have been included in the "Other Viruses" chapter.
2. Concise and Clear Text with Illustrations: The language is concise, accompanied by over 80 photographs and line drawings, making it easy to understand and remember.
3. Strong Emphasis on Integration of Basic and Clinical Knowledge: The focus is on the main biological characteristics, pathogenic mechanisms, clinical manifestations, laboratory diagnosis, and specific prevention and treatment of pathogenic microorganisms.
4. Clear Focus: Each chapter lists key points in an outline format, along with review questions. Answers are provided at the end of the book to help students grasp the essentials during self-study and review.
5. High Practicality: The content is designed to align with the teaching syllabus for five-year undergraduate medical microbiology and the National Medical License Examination. Additionally, each chapter includes updates and new content to facilitate future review for exams and preparation for postgraduate studies.
