Features: This book is a specialized work on cellular network planning and optimization. It not only introduces mobile communication systems since the introduction of cellular structures but also focuses on analyzing the planning and optimization of the wireless network, transmission network, and core network within mobile communication systems. The main contents of this book include: an overview of information theory and mobile communication networks, the planning and optimization of the wireless network, transmission network, and core network in the second-generation GSM system, the planning and optimization of GPRS and EDGE systems during the transition from the second to the third generation, the planning and optimization of the wireless network, transmission network, and core network in the third-generation WCDMA system, as well as the key technologies and challenges of future possible fourth-generation systems. In the appendix of this book, an analysis and discussion are provided on planning tools, the planning of multimedia messaging service (MMS) and location-based services, and the testing of end-to-end system performance, along with a user-friendly Erlang B table. This book is suitable for telecommunications professionals, especially those engaged in mobile communication system engineering, as well as technical personnel and management personnel. It can also serve as a reference for undergraduate and graduate students in relevant fields or those conducting related research.
