The explanations are straightforward, concise, and practical. All names of people and places (including ancient states, capitals, mountains, rivers, lakes, passes, water conservancy projects, palaces, pavilions, and terraces) that appear in the aforementioned five histories, as well as ethnic groups, official positions, classical texts, artifacts and institutional systems, historical events, and specialized terms related to astronomy, calendrics, music, medicine, etc., are included. The entries are arranged in order of stroke count for the first character, and an Index of Entries is provided at the beginning of the book, with the same arrangement as the main text. Page numbers in the main text are noted for easy reference.
