Features: A beautiful city film, An avant-garde exploratory film. Gao Xiaosong leads the sweet and handsome boys to create this summer's moving youth story. Gao Xiaosong once used music and words to create a maze of youthful ideals blending with real life; this time, he wrote his youth without regrets with his camera. In his third year of college, Gao Huji led his girlfriend to the United States. Zhang Yang dropped out of Xi'an and came to Beijing, forming a band with Gao Huji. On that day, new students arrived. Gao Huji and Zhang Yang stood on the rooftop of the assembly hall, using binoculars to watch one by one as the new students stepped out of their limousines. Just as they were complaining about the lack of beautiful girls in the engineering college, they saw a girl with stunning beauty step out of the car, smiling happily, looking up at the roof where the two mischievous boys, Gao Huji and Zhang Yang, stood. Their good days began that day. That girl was Huanzi.
One time, they went camping and singing on the Great Wall. At dawn, they got lost on the Great Wall. Gao Huji came alone. By the time Gao Huji started working on his graduation thesis, Huanzi and Zhang Yang were still missing. In the rain, when Gao Huji met Huanzi again, she stood alone by the window, dressed for a dance, gazingly at the heavy rain outside. The scene gradually dissolved into a swirl of beautiful colors.
The above is the first half of the film, a of university life. Because of love and friendship, the three young people lived in their own beautiful ideals. Later, on the day Huanzi graduated, the three of them vowed to forget the past and never see each other again, freezing all their youthful memories in the years they belonged and which would never return. The second half of the film is the climax. Zhang Yang, Gao Huji (who then changed his name to "Gao Le"), and Huanzi meet again after they have graduated from college and entered society. In this part, the social background fades from the story, and the era also becomes blurred. An unbreakable vow not to meet again separates them, and the joys and sorrows of their youth once again stir their lives.
