That same year, Ye Zi revised these fifteen essays along with How I Became Interested in Literature (Wo Zuiyao Yu Wenxue Jiu Guan) into Ye Zi's Prose Collection, submitting it to Commercial Press. The typesetting was completed, but it was never printed due to the outbreak of the War of Resistance. The refers to Ye Zi's prefaces, reviews, reminiscences, memorials, eulogies, editorial notes, letters, and diaries. This selected collection includes most of Ye Zi's prose works, arranged in chronological order by publication date. Another life scene depicted in Ye Zi's prose is the rural areas along the Dongting Lake, battered by natural disasters and human calamities. Through his writings, one can also discern his literary views, which were rich in revolutionary and combative spirit, yet deeply rooted in local artistic characteristics.
