Features: This book is an authoritative guide for migrating Java programming experience to the .NET environment. For Java programmers, understanding the similarities and differences between C# and Java is essential for quickly using C# to develop Windows applications. The book features numerous code examples (all tested on Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Java 1.4 platforms) that demonstrate how to apply Java programming experience to C# to create feature-rich .NET applications. The author first provides a detailed description of the .NET Framework, followed by an introduction to coding methods and the content of the Visual Studio .NET integrated development environment (IDE). The book summarizes and compares the different characteristics of C# and Java, systematically analyzing the relationship between the two languages. Readers will learn the essence of C# programming—from object creation to event programming—as well as more advanced topics such as database access, XML processing, GUI programming, and reflection techniques. To enable readers to program in C# more efficiently rather than merely mimicking Java programming in C#, the book primarily discusses the following topics:
· Database access
· Inheritance and polymorphism
· Thread programming
· Garbage collection and memory management
· C# application deployment
· Delegates
· Handling XML
This book offers valuable practical advice for Java developers, programmers, and architects to help them successfully migrate to the .NET environment.
