Features: Xiao Qianzhong (1883–1944), styled Longqiao, was from Huaining, Anhui. In his early years, he studied painting under his hometown companions Jiang Yun and Chen Xifan, adhering to the styles of Qinghui and Lianzhou. Due to Jiang Yun's harsh treatment, he left to travel in Sichuan and Northeast China, gaining inspiration from nature. In middle age, he returned to Beijing and switched to studying the works of Shi Tao, Mei Qing, Gong Xian, Wang Meng, and others, transforming his style into one of profound artistic spirit and vigorous brushwork, eventually developing his own unique approach. In his later years, he enjoyed creating works in the green-and-gold palette. Since the 1920s, his artistic style gradually shifted toward Shi Tao, Gong Xian, and Mei Qing, characterized by strong brushwork and a powerful composition. He served as a judge at the founding of the Chinese Painting Research Society and gained widespread acclaim in the Beijing art scene during the 1930s and 1940s, often paired with Xiao Junxian as the "Two Xiaos." He held positions such as professor at Beijing Art College and judge at the Chinese Painting Research Society. Together with Xiao Junxian, they were known as the "Two Xiaos" and had a significant influence in Northern China.
