Features: This book provides an in-depth analysis and reveals the origins and the vigorous rise and development of the neoliberal economic thought since the 1970s, as well as its impact on countries worldwide, particularly the significant shock it has had on Latin American developing countries and socialist countries, including its negative effects on China's economic reforms. The book proposes corresponding countermeasures for China's current economic issues, conducts in-depth research and analysis of various Western macroeconomic theories, and draws on their reasonable components to offer valuable suggestions. Examples include issues such as the current RMB exchange rate, foreign trade theory and policy, and a series of macroeconomic indicators related to weak consumption. Additionally, some authors focus on the research and application of regional economic theory in China, such as the impact of foreign direct investment, cluster enterprises, and patent output on regional development, all of which are analyzed through detailed empirical studies.
Furthermore, the book addresses corporate governance issues. In the relatively mature corporate theories of the West, there are many aspects that can be referenced and adopted by China. The authors not only analyze the relationship between governance structures and governance mechanisms but also pay attention to institutional innovation in both areas, especially delving into issues such as shirking, integrity, and independent directors in current corporate activities, while proposing effective solutions. To borrow from Western corporate theories, some authors also compare and analyze corporate governance models represented by the UK and the U.S. with those represented by Germany and Japan, aiming to take the strengths of both and adapt them to China's context.
Lastly, the book explores and debates other topics such as the theory of intellectual property advantages, the theory of latecomer advantages, and the "hard core" and "protective belt" theories of major economic schools, among others.
