Features: The lyrics translated this time are poems, and many lines are difficult to translate directly. Therefore, a combination of literal and free translation was adopted. Due to the differences in grammar between French and Chinese, translating into Chinese according to the rules of the former often results in inverted sentences. Some of these were adjusted to fit the rhythm of Chinese, while others were left as is. Additionally, some lines required translating two or three together to maintain the flow of Chinese expression. As a result, while each French original line aligns with its corresponding Chinese translation, the content of the paired lines is not always identical. Some phrases may need to be read in context. Due to our limited proficiency, there are still many omissions and mistranslations, and we sincerely ask readers to point them out. The lyrics selected for this collection are all those available in our university library or with certain vocal music teachers. There are many other excellent vocal works by Fauré (1845–1924) that are not included because they lack musical scores and are thus temporarily omitted.
