Features: The author has been engaged in research, teaching, and engineering practice in seismic engineering, foundation engineering, structural dynamics, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, and masonry structures for many years. He has also participated in the revision of the National "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" or Shanghai's "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings." He deeply feels that structural seismic engineering is a multidisciplinary and highly integrated field. To introduce the knowledge of this field to readers in a single book, it requires the joint efforts of colleagues from various disciplines to thoroughly and clearly present the essence of these disciplines in structural seismic engineering to readers. In light of this, multiple authors from Tongji University, based on summarizing the research achievements and engineering practices in structural seismic engineering over the past decade, wrote the "Code for Seismic Design of Building Structures" in 1995. After that, they combined their learning and application of the "Code for Seismic Design of Buildings" (GB50011-2001) to compile this book, "Theoretical and Practical Examples of Seismic Design of Building Structures," to meet the needs of teaching and engineering practice. The book features a balance between theoretical exposition and design examples, emphasizing the explanation of fundamental concepts and supplemented with detailed examples for demonstration. Some computer programs included in the book can not only be used in teaching but also in engineering practice and scientific research. The author hopes that through studying this book, readers will not only master the basic theories and methods of structural seismic engineering but also be able to skillfully apply the code for seismic design of various types of building structures.
