Features: This book was organized and compiled under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is intended as a teaching material for the seven-year program in Traditional Chinese Medicine at higher TCM institutions. In terms of content, it breaks away from the limitation of organizing chapters and sections based on the original texts of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon. Instead, it selects content with prominent academic thought characteristics, high ideological value, and strong clinical guidance, categorizes them into chapters based on their intrinsic connections, and is titled "Inner Canon Studies" as a textbook for higher TCM education. The book is divided into three parts:
Part 1: "Introduction"
This part introduces the concept of Inner Canon studies, the book Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, the academic system of Inner Canon studies, and an overview of historical research on the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon from the perspective of academic development.
Part 2: "Medical Principles of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon"
The central focus of this part is to discuss the manifestations and developmental patterns of human life at various stages and in different states. The sections on life and the human body, as well as Zang-Xiang (organs and phenomena), explore the "norms" of life. The section on diseases, however, discusses diseases from the perspectives of their concepts, etiology, pathogenesis, transmission, and progression, covering the "variations." The diagnostic methods section explains the principles and methods of diagnosis, while the treatment section introduces the theory, principles, and various therapeutic methods. The section on health preservation and rehabilitation discusses the basic principles of health preservation as well as disease recovery and care.
Part 3: "Interdisciplinary Thoughts of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon"
This part selects topics related to medicine from the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon and combines ancient and modern, especially contemporary, research findings to explore nine specialized topics: the medical philosophy of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, its astronomical and calendrical thoughts, its geographical medical thoughts, its meteorological medical thoughts, its temporal medical thoughts, its constitutional medical thoughts, its psychological medical thoughts, its social medical thoughts, and the Five Evolving Movements and Six Climates theory.
