This book is a theoretical argument by Master Taixu to reveal Buddhism as a religion facing reality, and it is an important work in establishing the theoretical foundation for his "Humanistic Buddhism." The entire book is divided into three parts: "The Argument for the Foundation," "The Argument for the Essence," and "The Argument for Application." Among them, "The Argument for the Foundation" is the "Realism" written by the master in 1927 at Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. "The Argument for the Essence" is the content taught by the master at the Han-Zang Buddhist Institute starting in 1938 (only the chapter "The Principle of Reality" was taught during his lifetime). "The Argument for Application" is compiled from the master's relevant papers. This book includes the "Argument for the Foundation" and "The Argument for the Essence."
