Features: "Newly Compiled Basic Japanese," a college-level textbook, was developed to implement the "Teaching Syllabus for the Basic Stage of Japanese Programs in Higher Education." It was commissioned by the Japanese Group of the Second National College Foreign Language Textbook Review Committee and co-authored by a team of teachers from Peking University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, and Liaoning Normal University. The book consists of four volumes (with 15 lessons per volume) and is designed for first and second-year Japanese majors (or students in the basic stage). This is the volume. Each volume includes texts (dialogues and articles), vocabulary, notes (functions and notions, grammar), exercises, and necessary supplementary materials on Japanese language knowledge.
The selection and organization of this textbook are guided by discourse features. The notes consistently prioritize functional and notional grammar while also considering the systematic nature of grammar, aiming to organically integrate the two. The book emphasizes both the development of language communicative skills and the transmission of linguistic knowledge, enabling students to build a solid foundation in the language.
