Yanzhi's first life is that of an angel who descended to the mortal world and was punished to suffer for three lifetimes—the cruel fate of finding happiness only to lose it again. Her second life is that of a daughter of a forest chieftain. She loved the forest deeply and refused to move with her tribe, ultimately dying alongside the forest in a devastating logging operation. This forged an unbreakable bond between her and the plants as well as their spirits, while also planting the seed of hatred for humans in her heart. In her third life, Yanzhi becomes an unstoppable assassin known as Number One. During a mission to assassinate another assassin named Number Two, she is poisoned and loses her memory, ending up in by the lake, where she is taken in by an elderly fisherwoman. The story begins from there.
