Features: Calligraphy with fountain pen, which has taken deep root and flourished across China, like a spring in full bloom with a hundred flowers. In recent years, thanks to the calligraphy activities advocated by me and some enthusiastic fellow enthusiasts, a group of young people have been brought onto the stage of calligraphy, becoming the backbone of calligraphy in various regions. I often feel gratified by their achievements. For this reason, whenever these young friends publish new works, they always think of me first, insisting on having me write a preface or inscription, simply because they have not forgotten this friendship. Now, Zhang Wenhai, who was once an excellent teacher at our "China Fountain Pen Calligraphy Correspondence Center," has once again presented his book and asked me to write something. I can no longer remember or list how many awards Zhang Wenhai has won in national calligraphy competitions over the years, how many calligraphy works and articles he has published, or how many specialized calligraphy collections he has published. As the saying goes, "A person's handwriting reflects their character," and his elegant and beautiful script does not require further praise from me. I believe that anyone who publishes their own calligraphy collection has gone through years of diligent practice, constantly practicing calligraphy. The ancients said, "A pile of brushes and a pool of ink—without Wang Xizhi or Xuan Xizhi." This means success through hard work, and Zhang Wenhai naturally has such an experience. However, this refers only to the technical aspects of calligraphy, not the deeper cultivation beyond the brush. To make new breakthroughs, one must also possess insight beyond the brush and cultivate moral character. For example, Zhang Wenhai, in addition to calligraphy, has also extensively studied literature, history, and calligraphy theory. He can write poetry and prose, and during the several years he taught at our correspondence center, he often participated in various calligraphy teaching activities. He has become smarter and more mature, yet he has retained his simplicity and treats others with kindness. Whether in public or private, he never belittles his peers to boast. Among the teachers at our "China Fountain Pen Calligraphy Correspondence Center" and among the book friends I have met domestically and internationally, we advocate mutual respect and friendly competition among peers, rejecting the petty behavior of belittling others and envying their talent. Throughout history, whether in literary or calligraphic circles, or in any field where a "circle" can be established, there has never been a precedent for anyone achieving success by belittling others. Wise and kind people would never do such foolish things. I hope Zhang Wenhai and all young friends who love calligraphy will become smarter, harderworking, more united, and more friendly. Their calligraphy can serve as a model for others, and their character can be an example for all. Only then can they achieve a complete life!
