Phonology of Chinese finals

Features: This book is divided into two parts, the upper part being "General Theory," which discusses the main principles of phonological diagram studies and explains some basic concepts, clarifying the emergence, development, research, and application of phonological diagram studies. The lower part is "Specific Analysis," which introduces the contents of approximately 120 phonological diagrams that the author has encountered. The level of detail in the descriptions of these diagrams varies. Generally, for those discussed more thoroughly in The Origin and Development of Phonological Diagrams (which introduces the situations of about 50 phonological diagrams), the author provides a concise account. For those not discussed by Professor Zhao, the author provides a detailed description. The balance between detail and brevity also considers the importance of the phonological diagrams themselves—more space is devoted to significant or lesser-known diagrams. The over 100 phonological diagrams introduced by the author are not exhaustive, and a few (such as Yang Qing's Collected Records of Phonetic Diagrams and Qiu Qianmo's New Compendium of Ancient and Modern Phonetic Tables) are omitted due to their unavailability.
