In terms of content, the old version has been optimized according to the new teaching requirements, emphasizing innovation, origin, cultivation, and practicality. I. Headings. This book includes over 3,000 entries, all commonly used idioms by students that require explanations.
II. Typography. The fonts used in this book are based on the "Total List of Simplified Characters" compiled by the National Language and Literature Work Committee and the "List for the Rectification of Variant Characters" jointly issued by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and the Committee for the Reform of Chinese Characters.
III. Phonetic Transcription. Entries are transcribed using Pinyin. Obscure characters in the explanations are also transcribed. Single-character common pronunciations are used, without continuous changes in tone or pitch.
IV. Definitions. First, the characters and words are explained. Then, the literal or original meaning of the characters in the idiom is explained, followed by the extension and metaphorical meanings. Sometimes, the scope of use, emotional connotation, and other forms of the idiom are also indicated. If it is a legend, it is briefly narrated in plain language first.
V. Example Sentences. Each entry is accompanied by an example sentence to help illustrate the meaning and usage of the idiom. The entry mentioned in the example sentence is replaced with "-".
VI. Arrangement. Entries are arranged in the order of Pinyin. For entries with the same initial sound and tone, they are ordered by the number of strokes and starting stroke shape of the first character. For entries with the same initial sound, they are arranged by the number of strokes and starting stroke shape of the first character. For entries with the same character and sound, the second and third characters are used for ordering.
VII. Index. An "Index of the Number of Strokes of the First Character of the Entry" is appended at the end of the dictionary for reference.
