Features: This book is compiled according to the examination syllabus requirements and has a certain degree of targeting towards the form and content of the exam. However, improving English speaking skills is not merely about passing a specific exam. Our consensus is that the enhancement of oral proficiency relies on the practical application of language in various objective situations and subjective conditions. Only through extensive practice can one achieve "skill born from familiarity." The function of a textbook is essentially to provide reference material for teaching and related language resources. We believe that the new edition of the textbook can fulfill this role. Therefore, this book can also serve as a textbook for English speaking courses in colleges and universities or as a reference for self-study. This book is one of the designated teaching materials for the "Senior Interpreting Project" of the "Shanghai English Interpreting Qualification Examination" (English).
The book is designed with a semester in mind, featuring 16 units. The topics of the language materials in each unit cover areas such as language learning, communication principles, daily life, science and technology, tourism, social hot issues, education policies, environmental protection, and economic trade, providing reference materials for oral expression practice in terms of topics, expressions, ideas, and exercises. Each unit follows a similar format, including: core curriculum, model dialogues, knowledge-based reading materials, and expression exercises, all of which are interconnected in some way. The selected sample questions for the oral exam in the appendix can serve as references for exam preparation and guidance.
