Features: The current goal of English teaching reform is primarily to improve students' practical language application skills. However, due to the lack of a real language environment in English teaching in China, students' listening and speaking abilities are somewhat limited. Therefore, reading becomes particularly important, as it provides students with a good language environment and helps them develop a sense of the language. First, reading can enhance learning interest. Grammar in English learning can be rather dull and difficult to understand. By incorporating some vivid and engaging short stories from extracurricular reading, students' imagination can be stimulated, fostering a strong interest in learning through reading. This allows students to improve their sense of language, expand their vocabulary, master sentence structures, and further strengthen their understanding of grammar. Second, through extensive reading, students can not only broaden their knowledge and expand their horizons but also improve their reading speed and enhance their ability to comprehend texts progressively, thereby increasing the accuracy of information acquisition.
