Features: Reading is an important learning skill. Extensive reading can effectively promote the comprehensive development of English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, serving as the main pathway for students to learn English. Extensive reading also plays a significant role in improving reading speed, expanding vocabulary, and broadening knowledge. The current goal of English teaching reform is primarily to enhance students' practical language application skills. However, due to the lack of a real language environment in China's current English teaching, students' listening and speaking abilities are somewhat limited. Therefore, reading becomes particularly important, providing students with excellent language practice and the opportunity to develop a sense of language.
First, reading can enhance learning interest. In English learning, grammar can be rather dull and difficult to understand. By combining extracurricular reading with lively and engaging short stories, students' imagination can be stimulated, fostering a strong interest in learning through reading. This allows students to improve their language sense, expand their vocabulary, master sentence patterns, and further strengthen their understanding of grammar in a relaxed and enjoyable reading process.
Second, through extensive reading, students not only broaden their knowledge and broaden their horizons but also improve their reading speed. Gradually, they enhance their comprehension of texts and increase the accuracy of information acquisition. To comprehensively improve the reading skills and learning interest of middle school students, we have organized teaching materials that focus on both interest cultivation and ability enhancement. The junior high edition emphasizes the improvement of problem-solving skills and overall English proficiency. It is accompanied by a large number of carefully selected middle school exam questions.
