Features: Learning the saxophone should be enjoyable, and this is the fundamental idea of this book. With 135 selected pieces and duets from renowned or lesser-known composers, students can master basic musical and saxophone techniques. This collection is divided into several chapters, each with a musical theme, where musical elements are reflected through corresponding pieces. Students' playing skills will be systematically and gradually strengthened. Technique is never the priority here; it is integrated into the pieces, with the main focus on performing music. Therefore, many Italian expressive markings are included in the scores to help students better express the music. Breathing marks are intentionally omitted in the second book, encouraging students to concentrate on the phrasing and mark their own breaths.
We are very grateful to Mr. Michael Rose for writing the second part of the duets and composing two trios, as well as the collaboration of saxophonist Ante Bey. The accompanying CD included with this book provides students with the opportunity to play with an ensemble, featuring 41 pieces arranged in different styles (classical, pop, rock, folk, etc.). Additionally, 11 duets are recorded, allowing students to practice counting rhythms accurately, coordinating with fellow players, and paying attention to other parts during ensemble performance.
Perhaps this collection cannot be called a trombone tutorial—it is merely a supplement. We hope it helps students on their musical journey and that they always stay connected to music with joy.
