Features: The English name of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) professional degree is internationally recognized as Master of Public Administration, with the abbreviation MPA. MPA belongs to vocational background education, and the main target candidates are government and non-governmental public institutions staff who have graduated from university undergraduate programs (generally with a bachelor's degree) and possess more than four years of practical work experience. The learning mode is primarily part-time, emphasizing the direct implementation of professional degree education in the field of public management. Teaching methods adopt various forms such as classroom lectures, seminars, simulation training, case analysis, and social surveys, with the teaching objective being the cultivation and training of practical abilities in public management. The thesis takes the form of thematic research results, consulting reports, research reports, policy evaluation, project planning, case analysis reports, and research on countermeasures for public management issues, among others. Those who complete the required credits and pass the thesis defense will be awarded the Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. Compared to other master's degrees in management, the MPA degree is at the same level but of a different type, each with its own focus. In terms of training objectives, target candidates, curriculum design, training methods, as well as knowledge and ability structures, there are specific requirements and quality standards, distinguishing it from the training requirements for teaching and research-oriented talents. It emphasizes the direct implementation of professional degree education in the field of public management. The MPA degree is characterized as interdisciplinary, composite, and application-oriented. Its knowledge structure is based on the discipline of public management, and depending on the training direction and management field, it involves other relevant disciplines. Since May 1999, when the "Master of Public Administration (MPA) Professional Degree Setting Plan" was approved by the 17th meeting of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, China officially enrolled students in 2001. Currently, the first cohort of students is gradually graduating, with many already obtaining the MPA degree. China's MPA program has been established. In 2004, the number of MPA training institutions in China expanded from 24 to 47, with a more rational distribution of educational programs and further expansion of enrollment scale, which is a good news for candidates eager to pursue the MPA professional degree. The MPA enrollment examination is conducted through a joint exam by all training institutions nationwide, with unified question setting and unified grading. Each institution sets its own admission score line and exercises independent admission. The examination subjects include: Political Theory (set and organized by each training institution), Foreign Language (choose one from English, Russian, or Japanese), Management, Public Administration, and Comprehensive Knowledge (Chinese Language, Mathematics, Logic, with a structural ratio of 4:3:3).
