Features: This manual is a revised version based on the second edition of the "Manual of English Name Translations" published in 1984. It has been further updated by adding over 20,000 new translations based on the latest authoritative international name directories, pronunciation and surname dictionaries. It now includes over 60,000 surnames and given names to meet the needs of translators in the new era. The translations in this manual are applicable to all English-speaking countries and ethnic groups. Today, English-speaking countries have complex ethnic compositions, especially in the United States, where a large number of non-English ethnic groups have been naturalized as local citizens and have taken important positions in various sectors of their countries. Their names frequently appear in various media and publications. Regarding the Chinese translations of these names, this manual strives to refer to the phonetic information from English and American name dictionaries and pronunciation dictionaries. For foreign names without phonetic information, those with obvious ethnic language characteristics are translated according to the original ethnic language translation rules, while others are translated according to English translation rules.
