Features: The Unconventional Path of a Marshal Series. The author, Zhang Lin, is a professor at the National Defense University of the People's Liberation Army of China. He is a member of the Chinese Writers' Association and a biographer. He served as a member of the third and fourth editions of the Council of the China Association of Senior Professors. He joined the Eighth Route Army in 1944 and worked long-term in military publicity and cultural work. During the revolutionary war era, he served as a frontline reporter for Xinhua News Agency, writing many battlefield dispatches and news reports. He participated in many famous battles of the East China Theater and received multiple awards for his contributions. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he held leadership positions in publicity, Party history research, and other departments in the East China Military Region, the General Political Department of the PLA, and the National Defense University. He was one of the main editors of the 10-volume large-scale revolutionary memoir series "Sparks Ignite the Prairie." His published literary works include: "Snowy Days" (a short story collection, which was translated into English and published in Europe and America); "Zhao Yiman" (biographical literature, awarded the Xiangjiang Outstanding Book Award); "Xu Haidong General's Biography" (awarded the Shanghai Outstanding Book Award); "The Marshal's Star Rises" (awarded the National 'Five-One Project' Award); "Spirit of the High Mountains"; "China Marshal Xu Xianqian" (awarded the National Defense University Academic Work Award); "A Generation of Marshals." He has also led the compilation of specialized works such as: "The Biography of Xu Xianqian," "Political Work of the Contemporary Chinese Army," "A Great Journey, A Glorious Achievement," "I Love My Country," and "The Pillar of Heaven."
