Features: To adapt to the reform and development needs of higher oral medicine education in China, the National College Textbook Construction Research Association and the Oral Medicine Professional Textbook Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Health reviewed and decided to begin the fifth revision of the national oral medicine professional planned textbooks in May 2002. This revision, while maintaining the original characteristics of the textbooks, added new developments in the discipline, removed outdated content, reasonably allocated tasks to avoid unnecessary repetition, added charts, and improved the layout design. These efforts aimed to make the entire series of textbooks more perfect, more practical, and more in line with the needs of teachers and students. Based on the third edition, this version has been revised, with a significant reduction in the content of removable appliances and a focus on the widely used fixed appliances such as the edgewise and straight-wire appliances, as well as orthodontic techniques both domestically and internationally. New chapters on "Adult Orthodontics" and "Oral Health Education and Hygiene Care in Orthodontic Treatment" have been added, along with new clinical case introductions and accompanying photos. Key points to be mastered are listed at the beginning of each chapter.
