Features: Currently, Chinese universities are growing increasingly stronger. However, our college students and even our intellectual class have not maintained the necessary clarity and personal dignity in the face of major issues of right and wrong. This spiritual condition may stem from a lack of knowledge or misunderstanding of human civilization. In light of this, this series selectively compiles classic intellectual documents throughout human history, aiming to provide some fundamental spirit for Chinese social life, particularly higher education, and to offer basic concepts and knowledge for China's intellectual class, especially college students, in order to elevate the spiritual realm of Chinese citizens.
The 16th to 18th centuries were sometimes referred to as the "Early Modern Period." During this time, human society achieved unprecedented development: rapid advancements in science and technology, political and economic transformations, and the contact between the East and West brought about by the opening of new sea routes. All these achievements originated from the pursuit of rationality and tolerance during the Reformation, the Renaissance, and the Enlightenment.
