Features: The 19th century was a turbulent and diverse era in terms of thought. Scientificism, humanism, instrumental rationality, and various ideas about the individualization and socialization of human development surged and flourished. These ideologies drove social transformations, greatly accelerating the course of human history. Ancient China also moved towards openness in this century, albeit passively. The influence of these thoughts was so profound that it still resonates today. In the new century, how should we inherit and reflect upon these ideologies? Currently, Chinese universities are growing increasingly strong. However, our college students and even our intellectual class have not maintained the necessary clarity and personal dignity in the face of major issues. This spiritual condition may stem from a lack of knowledge or misunderstanding of human civilization. In light of this, this series selects and compiles classic intellectual documents throughout human history, aiming to provide foundational values for Chinese social life, particularly in higher education, and to offer basic concepts and knowledge for China's intellectual class, especially college students, in order to elevate the spiritual realm of Chinese citizens.
