Features: This book can be used as a textbook for highway and bridge engineering, engineering supervision, or similar majors in vocational and technical colleges. It can also serve as a professional reference for technical personnel engaged in surveying, design, construction, supervision, maintenance, and management of highway and bridge projects. The book is divided into five parts. Part I (Chapters 1 and 2) introduces the composition and classification of bridges, design procedures and principles, design loads, deck layout, and deck structures. Part II (Chapters 3 and 4) covers the design and construction of plate bridges and prefabricated simple-span beam bridges, as well as the calculation of simple-span beams. Part III (Chapters 5–7) discusses the characteristics and construction of arch bridges, their design, and the calculation of constant-width cable arches without hinges. Part IV (Chapters 8–11) covers the construction of cantilever, continuous system bridges, rigid frame bridges, cable-stayed bridges, suspension bridges, concrete-filled steel tube arch bridges, and arch-combined system bridges. It also includes the construction and design calculations of bearings, piers and abutments, and culverts. Part V (Chapters 12–17) introduces basic technologies such as falsework, arch supports, formwork, concrete, reinforcement, and prestressing. It also covers common construction methods for simple-span beam bridges, arch bridges, culverts, piers and abutments, cantilever construction techniques, and briefly introduces the construction methods for continuous beam jacking and cable-stayed bridges and suspension bridges.
